Oleksandra Bulatova (Lesya Zmiyevets)

Oleksandra Bulatova, who works under the name Lesya Zmiyevets, is a Ukrainian artist from Kyiv known for her still life and everyday scene paintings. She works primarily in acrylic, along with oil and watercolour, depicting simple, familiar subjects — household objects, flowers, vegetables, fruit, and buildings — rendered in a simplified style with an impressionist slant.

Light is central to her work: she has a particular gift for capturing how it falls across a surface, warming a scene and giving even the most mundane objects a sense of glow and presence. Her paintings return again and again to routine, everyday moments, but she paints them with a childlike delight — finding quiet joy and wonder in the ordinary rather than treating it as unremarkable.

Landscape, 40 × 30 cm, acrylic on board, 2025.
