My experiment with abstract and geometry. Oil in canvas, 50 x 60 cm, 2025It is called Electric simply because of the colour. I was keen to play with contrast, beautiful blue and fluorescence. Inspiration comes in many ways: my eye caught first blue magic frame at a cinema - my green and pink shoes just transformed and popped in blue light; second time was while watching Pluribus, and second blue hallucination was in fact a zoom out of a hospital window grill. That is when I knew I had to paint that. Though that turned out very different!
It was an experiment from the start: the canvas is in fact damaged and was discounted, so the project was never intended as commercial or even serious. Soon after I started working on it, - with mathematical precision at first, it became obvious that honing blue magic is not that easy and it is its own being, and I’m just materialising it into existence. There was even a very different version that I just smudged as soon as it was done: the painting just said “This is wrong, you know what to do”, and I did not really have much say in it. Likely my next project won’t be blue!
