Poshtova Square
Polina Kotubey (b. 2004, Kyiv, Ukraine) is an emerging contemporary artist working in painting and graphic art. She graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (2021–2024), where she studied in the Studio of Formal Art (2023–2024).
In her practice, Kotubey integrates laser etching into traditional painting, exploring the meeting points between classical techniques and new technological forms of expression. This hybrid approach allows her to investigate structure, materiality, and the visual tension between precision and gesture.
Recently, she has turned her attention to brutalist architecture, using its monumental geometry as both subject and conceptual framework. Her work examines how rigid architectural forms interact with emotional perception, memory, and contemporary visual culture.
Kotubey represents a new generation of Ukrainian artists navigating the intersection of heritage, innovation, and the evolving language of material experimentation.
