Ilona Shymchyts is a contemporary Ukrainian artist based in Ternopil region, Ukraine. She graduated from the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2014–2020) and has exhibited her work in Ukraine and abroad, including “Snow in Florence” in Lviv, international residencies, and group shows in Poland and Kyiv.

Her practice spans painting and mixed media, and she has been active on international platforms such as Saatchi Art since 2018.

A recurring theme in her work and visual language is drawn from metaphorical and emotional landscapes, often referencing structures like lighthouses — symbols of guidance, resilience, and quiet strength. Imagery such as lighthouses, especially in stormy or contemplative settings, appears in her recent posts and highlights her attachment to these metaphors of steady light in turbulent times.

Shymchyts’s art is marked by explorations of perception, place, and emotional resonance, with compositions that invite viewers to engage with mood and memory as much as formal structure. Her work reflects a personal and poetic approach to painting that draws on both local cultural identity and universal visual metaphors.
